Experience Air India
Air India has grown to become a mega international airline with a network of 51 destinations across the USA, Europe, Canada, Far-East and South-East Asia, and the Gulf. The airline’s domestic network covers 63 destinations, including far-flung areas of the North-East, Ladakh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Air India’s present fleet of 143 aircraft comprises a mix of the wide-body B777s, B747s, A330s and the narrow-body Airbus A321s, A320s, A319s and the B737s. Today, Air India is not just an airline; it is a multi-faceted aviation company with state-of-the-art, in-house infrastructure for MRO, Ground Handling and Cargo operations.
The new aircraft experience
The discerning passenger today looks for speed and comfort. The induction of the B777-200LRs, B777-300ERs, B737-800s, A320s, A321s and A319s into the fleet has enabled Air India to offer its passengers a superior product. Passengers are already experiencing an enhanced level of luxury and comfort while flying on both, international and domestic routes.
With the induction of the state-of-the-art B777-200LRs, Air India offered a new product–the daily non-stop flight experience for long-haul travellers out of Mumbai and Delhi, to New York. The flights offer passengers convenient departure and arrival timings and seamless connectivity from major metros. From December 2009, the non-stop flight from Delhi has been extended further up to Washington, and back. All other West-bound flights – to Chicago, Newark, Frankfurt, London, Toronto and Paris – are operated with the new B777-300ERs. Air India also flies the B777-300ER from Delhi to Tokyo.
The First Class on the B777s is an epitome of luxury and exclusivity. Each First Class seat can be transformed into a fully horizontal 77-inch flat bed. The Executive Class cabin, too, is spacious and has comfortable seats. Each seat can be transformed into a 72-inch long flat bed. The Economy Class seat is ergonomically designed for comfort during the long-haul flight.
The new generation Airbus A320 family aircraft comprising the A321, A320 and A319 in Air India’s fleet have enabled the airline to offer an upgraded product to passengers flying on all major routes within India and to neighbouring countries.
The 172-seater A321 has been deployed on all the 10 flights between Mumbai and Delhi and between major metros. Air India’s low-cost subsidiary, Air India Express, has a single-aircraft fleet of the new generation B737-800 aircraft and gives passengers the benefits of comfortable aircraft, convenient timings and low-cost travel to 14 international destinations in
