One of the finest monuments is the Luxor Temple, which is dedicated to the great god Amun-Re, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu (the moon god) – together representing the Theban triad. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramesses II, it is said that the temple's purpose was to provide a suitable setting for the rituals of various festivals, the most important being the festival of Opet.
Aswan, Egypt's sunniest city and ancient frontier town located about 81 miles south of Luxor, has a distinctively African atmosphere. Small enough to walk around and graced with the most beautiful setting on the Nile, the pace of life here is slow and relaxing. The Nubian Museum in Aswan is an attraction, too. It is one of the best-presented museums in the world because of its splendid yet clear style of exhibit. The museum is a delight with its unique design, housing the fantastic collections unearthed from the archaeological excavations during the Nubian Campaign.
In Aswan, the Nile is most beautiful, flowing through amber desert and granite rocks, around emerald islands covered in palm groves and tropical plants. Excursion on the Nile is one of the most popular activities amongst tourists.
A cruise over the Nile River is an experience of eternity. It is the best way to experience the wealth of Egyptian history, culture and architecture.
